Elizabeth Price gathers a series of works, from museums, archives, galleries and books, that all explore the horizontal
This new publication comes from the Hayward Touring exhibition by Turner Prize-winning artist Elizabeth Price and sees her curate works spanning over 2,000 years from more than eighty artists including Vito Acconci, Constantin Brancusi, Lygia Clark, John Flaxman, Eric Gill, Mike Kelley, Richard Hamilton, Henry Moore, Gustav Metzger, Carolee Schneemann, Jo Spence, Gavin Turk and Francesca Woodman.
Divided into four sections – Sleeping, Working, Mourning, Dancing – Price presents images of the reclining or recumbent body in states of weariness, sleep, stupor, reverie, grief, sickness, death and erotic transport or languor.
